Patrice Bäumel is a German electronic musician who has been living in Amsterdam for the last 14 years. Before fully committing his life to making music, he had a carreer in teaching, computer programming and design...
Patrice is not a collector. Memory is baggage. No vinyl fetish. Tradition is limitation. Future, however, is a blank sheet of paper, waiting to be scribbled on in the maddest colours imaginable. The excitement of the unknown is what motivates him to experiment and break free from the herd.
Behind the decks or in the studio, Patrice tries to combine the uncombinable, mix contrasting elements, play with surprising dynamics. Man vs machine, warm vs cold. It is the reoccurring theme in his tracks, podcasts and dj sets.
Patrice has gained a rock solid reputation worldwide through his productions for labels like Get Physical (Roar), Trapez or Studio !K7. Remix work includes mixes for Booka Shade or Bomb The Bass. Together with Nuno Dos Santos he forms "360", a cutting edge dj and production duo. Their monthly residency at Trouw is a wild display of new school electronic dance music. As a co-owner of the new Trouw label and booking agency, Patrice is involved in many aspects of today's music business.
One of the album tracks is licensed to !K7 and will appear on the next DJ Kicks compilation done by Apparat. A spontaneous collaboration with Lee Jones lead to an interesting track that can be found on Lee's upcoming Watergate mix cd. On top of that, there is a pretty outlandish remix for H.O.S.H.'s new album coming out on Diynamic.
Patrice will finally be hitting the road with his brand new live act, starting around the time of the album release.
