Point Ephémère (Paris) joins...

Last weekend saw the first of many live shows streamed on Awdio from the excellent multidisciplinary venue Point Ephémère. This impressive refurbished building supplies warehouse on the bank of the Canal Saint Martin, has become one of the most dynamic and forward thinking venues in the city. As well as housing artists in residence, their restaurant and bar is where it's at in the summer months and their live concert and clubbing program of events doesn't shy away from the experimental and avant garde. Last week you may have missed the British iconic band Wire and new French electronic sensation Discodeine, but don't panic as the rest of February is just as kick-ass. Crystal Fighters (18th Feb), Esben and the Witch (21st Feb) and Chooglin' (24th Feb) playing live from the venue and on Awdio.com.

A taste of what's to come:

Hello Ryan Elliott (Spectral,...

Before Spectral Sound co-boss Ryan Elliott (alongside Matthew Dear) represents the label at Paris' Rex club tonight (Thursday 10th February), here are a few words gathered from the man and compiled by the show's organizers 'Hello' :

1/ What have you been working on recently?
My debut EP comes out in a few weeks on Ostgut Ton, so mostly working on that. The rest of the winter will be spent on the road at the weekends and working hard in the studio during the week!

2/ Spectral Sound and Ghostly, that’s you and Matthiew Dear. How do you work together?
Matthew and I do the A+R for Spectral Sound. The running of Ghostly isn't handled by us.

3/ What direction do you give to your 2 labels
Spectral is the dance music arm of Ghostly. Ghostly focuses on Rock, Pop, Ambient, and beyond.

4/ What music did you grow up around and does that influence you now?
I grew up around Detroit radio - Rap, Hip Hop, R n B, etc. I still hold a lot of that music close to my heart.

5/ Who are you listening to/playing a lot at the moment?
I've been playing lots of old techno records again lately. Grain, User, Cosmic, Heiko Laux, etc. It just seems like the groove that those records capture is hard to find today.

6/ If you hadn’t become a DJ, label manager and producer, what do you think you would have been?
Good question! I'm really not sure. Music is my passion and obsession.

7/ You are from Detroit and you live in Berlin. How is your life going there?
Life in Berlin is really good. My wife and I have lived in Berlin for about 1.5 years now. It's great because I was traveling so much to Europe while i still lived in Detroit, the flights were really long. Now, its usually just a nice short flight. I've also joined the Ostgut family and have a Berghain residency now that I live in Berlin, which has been amazing.

8/ What do you think about the Parisian scene?
I love Paris. I always have a great time at Rex, and there is excellent house and techno (and dj's) coming from Paris. Bass Culture, DJ Deep, DJ W!ld, etc....

9/ On which track can't you stop dancing?
DJ Rolando - The Jaguar!!

10/ Anything stupid last time you were drunk?
Never ;))

Electric Elephant line up...

The Electric Elephant Festival in Croatia have just spilled the magic beans for their 2011 line up, and what a selection of parties they have in store! 10 boat parties will be representing different club nights across the UK such as Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s A Love From Outer Space, Glasgow's Melting Pot, London's YoYo (hip hop and bass heavy night), Lowlife as well as Down To The Sea & Back doing their thing in the Adriatic. Biggies for the festival include Chicago legend Derrick Carter joined by Detroit hotshot Kyle Hall, underground house hero Luke Solomon, Stone Throw's James Pants, party pushers The Glimmers and Horse Meat Disco all helped by on of the most beautiful settings you could dream of.

How will they fit it all in you wonder? The festival has now expanded to 5 days and 5 nights in mid-july (14th-18th) becoming a holiday meets festival affair for a very reasonable £85.
The line-up is pretty phenomenal so for all the listings and early bird ticket reservations go straight to www.electricelephant.co.uk
