Anyone who happens to be in Paris at the moment will have heard that the hottest party ever is about to take place somewhere in the city and they'll do anything to be a part of it. This is the next 'Ambassadeurs' event on Saturday the 16th October and the team behind this exploit, certainly don't do things by half. We had a virtual chat to the man behind the scenes; Nicolas Levy who explains what 'Les Ambassadeurs' is all about.
Pearl: Hi Nicolas, can you tell me what you do, is the Ambassadeurs a job or a hobby?
Nicolas Levy: It’s something I’m passionate about, a hobby, or yes an addition to my primary activity that is promoter and organizer of all sorts of events for brands.
P: What is the idea behind Les Ambassadeurs?
NL: Les Ambassadeurs is of course an excuse to have a party based 5 points: decor, a complex story (this is developed throughout each event using 80 actors), a place which is often unique that we transform according to the theme, a party where everyone is in fancy dress, 25 Paris based clans who each invite 50 people, and multi-facetted artists who enable us to create all of this.
P: What do you have to do to get invited, is it very VIP?
NL: I don’t like the word vip as this really doesn’t interest us, we want everyone to be on the same level and most of all to have fun (the fancy dress helps), so you have to know one of the clans that is participating in the event: the key is not to be a spectator but to become an actor in the event. We try to submerge the guests into a different world like this year with the ‘Bal des Canailles’ of 1900.
P: What themes have you covered up until now?
NL: From an 80`s theme to Marie Antoinette to a crazy zoo to a very special university last year, we alternate between fantasy and historical.
The idea is to bring people into a story.
P: All this must be quite a headache to organize!
NL: These are all very big productions, a combination of a role play, a film and a party, with 2 months preparation and 200 people working on it, but most of all it’s a great adventure.
P: I imagine that brands help out financially for these events?
NL: Of course the support is there to build the event but we control the artistic side and the idea is that the brands are subtly integrated into the event not splashed about all over the place.
P: I watched the videos on your website, do you have a private jet?
NL: This is a new module that we’re putting together called Ambassadeurs Travel where we take between 100 and 150 people to spend a weekend in another capital city to discover another culture and we are developing a European network.
P: Awdio is an international website, so if people from other countries want to come to one of your events, what should they do?
NL: With our travels we are slowly creating an international network, there are actually quite a few foreigners who come to our events simply by having looked at our website and buying tickets from one of the listed restaurants, or they can call us at Nicoandco and we will be happy to welcome them.
P: So what’s the theme for October 16th?
NL: Le Bal des Canailles!
P: I don’t know what this means?
NL: Aha you’ll have to come and see!
P: But what should I dress up as?
NL: Look at the fashion section of our website, it’s all there, it’s the 1900’s -1914, mostly ‘fille de Joie’ (think painted ladies, corsets and can can .ed)
P: Ok but if I can’t come and I listen to the event on Awdio, what will I hear?
NL: 22 DJs and 1 live set, several different vibes, mostly friends who know how to have fun and have fun with the public, the aim is that the DJs really play for the public (keyword - arms in the air) we’ll go from Mirkoloco to Ghenacia, to LBR, Solo, Kimo, DoP live and the trendy Parisians Petroi, Rough, Anja, Paco.
We don’t like superstar DJs, people don’t come for the line-up but to have fun!
P: Thanks Nicolas
NL: No Problem, thanks to all the Awdio bloggers.
