We welcome another Parisian addition to the Awdio network, Panic Room. This relatively new venue provides a mix of über clubbing for electronic music addicts, live rock from local up and coming bands, 60’s psycho beat parties and much much more. Local stars have been known to stop by to drop some tunes (Tekilatex and I Cube in September). Read more
Every Tuesday night it’s Les Bon Mardis (Good Tuesdays) where you can discover the future kings and queens of the decks (not the kind you play poker with). Panic Room has become a home from home for many, a place to chill out with their mates for some and the spot for letting their hair down for plenty of others. It’s full of promise and we can’t wait to listen to the diverse sounds of this local joint, so don’t panic there’s more great music to come!

Anthony Rother Interview:
How long have you been DJing/Producing and how did you get started?
I am producing professional(y) since the age of 20. When I was eleven years old I had a Casio Synthesizer calculator, the one that the German band "Trio" has used for their song "Da Da Da" when I was playing on this lovely little synth I had the strong feeling that I want to be a musician.
Why did you decide to start several different labels rather than just one?
This was because of the different styles of music and the different visions. Also every label represents a other time of my life as an artist.
Datapunk has really taken off in recent years, what is the label’s manifesto?
I created the label Datapunk in a very hard phase of my life. I was broke and had no perspective. In this moment I produced in my studio the song "Back Home" and this song made everything possible. It saved my independence as an artist. And created a new vision for me. You can find the manifesto on the website.
How would you describe your sound?
I would describe it as Electronic Music. When I produce I have so big variety of influences from electronic music.
Has being in Berlin influenced your sound, if so how?
Everything can influence my music. Especially my daily life.
If you could collaborate with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be?
I would like to collaborate with John Carpenter for a nice movie. Or with Ian Curtis to let him sing on a track that I produce for him.
If you weren’t a DJ/producer what would you be?
Maybe a scriptwriter for movies or photographer.
What are your hopes and fears for 2010?
I hope for freedom and healthy...

Ever since his first releases, "Sex With The Machines“ (1997) and "Simulationszeitalter“ (2000), Rother has been among the German pioneers of a new electro generation. In 1998 he set up his label platform "Psi49Net“ and ultimately became an institution with his virtual electro-pop project "Little Computer People“ (2001), and the album "Hacker“ (2002), among other activities. In 2004, Rother replaced "Psi49Net“ with the label "Datapunk“, as a sign of a sonic and thematic reorientation. Rother has also worked with the likes of Sven Väth and ex Kraftwork member Karl Bartos and remixed important artists such as Tiefschwarz, Ellen Allien and Thomas Schumacher.
